I have decided to go with an article called “Kansas City metro records 180 homicides in 2022 Here are the details of each killing”. In 2019 homicides became a really serious problem in KCMO. Since meeting the record in 2019 Kansas city has managed to beat their own record years after. To this day it is still a big if not even bigger problem today in 2022 we have reached 180 homicides just this year. There were a lot of statistics used in this article, names if there were any were listed, so were dates and locations. Something else that gave them a lot of credibility was that they included videos that were shown on the news as well about homicides that took place. According to Luke Nozicka, “In 2021 we had the second highest number of homicides in Kansas city's history”. The first highest record was 157 but last year we reached 244 homicides. The year before which was 2020 there record was 182 which was the deadliest year kcmo had seen on record at the time. By 2020 the region had a total of 269 homicides . An article with a topic such as this one gives off the emotion of fear. Not just for the citizens who live in kcmo but for those who want to visit or don't live there but have a loved one who does. Citizens in kcmo are hurt over the many homicides that have taken place and are trying to come together to get this serious issue fixed. This particular article does a good job of letting readers feel the seriousness of these homicides and the pain that families go through. On the website in the article there are photos of families that have come together after losing someone. This allowed for readers to see what these families are going through after losing their loved one. Families speaking out against the violence taking place in the city is also shown. This just gives a better view of the seriousness of the situation for citizens.I find the ones who made this article credible because of how they showed their sources in their article by including videos of homicides that took place. These videos are clips that have come from the news and there is not a better source than the news to get information about homicides that have taken place. Whenever they make a claim such as the number of homicides that took place they include a link. This link will take you to the source they got it from which is another article. Throughout the article it is a list of people giving dates,names, ages, and locations of these homicides.Homicides of kcmo have become a very serious issue for all kcmo citizens. This article does a very good job of giving us readers the facts necessary to understand how much of an issue this has become and to actually see how much worse it has become over time. The photos of families that have come together to speak against the violence in the city had displayed emotion of sympathy for those who had lost their loved ones. The words used when speaking about these homicides in the article such as staggering gave off a feeling of fear for those who were residents and if you watch the news that is all that the citizens of kcmo say that they are in fear for their life and they want to help make a change.
