At the time when the Pharaoh's of Egypt died, they were laid to rest in Egyptian pyramids. In these pyramids, they would place a lot of items that were seen to be useful toi the ruler as he made the journey in the land of the dead.
The man would have some of his treasures and his favorite animals, buried with him. Also he would have to be buried with his servants so they trey would also attend to his needs even in the dead state.
