The people of Rapan are more technologically advanced than the people from the other regions of Telain. Because of this, and because of their large supply of wood, the Rapanians are the first to build ships. (They are also the only group of people to have developed guns and other advanced weapons).
Although the shipbuilding industry causes pollution that destroys the fish in the waters off of Rapan -- and the island has relatively few other food sources -- the Rapanians do become the first people to have the ability to venture out into other regions of Telain. (Note, this occurs after the two tribes of Canadexico come into contact with each other).
