The results of the Reconstruction era are evident in later U.S. history and in modern-day America in many ways. One of the most obvious is that the Civil War ended with the abolition of slavery, which is still a huge accomplishment for this country.
The Reconstruction era also led to the introduction of Black Codes, which were laws that were set up to make sure that African Americans knew their place in society and did not try to get out of it by trying to vote or hold office. This was an attempt to keep them from getting too powerful after being freed from slavery, but instead it just made them more angry and frustrated with their situation as citizens.
The Civil Rights Movement was also inspired by this time period because people saw how badly blacks were treated during Reconstruction and decided they needed some kind of change in their lives before it was too late for everyone involved.
