QUESTION: Write a paragraph that answers the questions below. Include at least two supporting details or examples.

In “the literature of the Americas,” Kimberly Koza writes; “By discovering the literature of our neighbors, we may also learn about ourselves.” Keeping this quote in mind, respond to the question.

Choose a selection from this unit, and write a paragraph that explains how Koza’s statement applies to the theme of the selection. Include at least two supporting details or examples. Be sure to include the title of the selection and indicate whether the author comes from Canada or Latin America.

MY ANSWER: The quote from "The Literature of the Americas" connects to No Dogs Bark's topic of being friendly to others and not being mean before it's too late, and the quote can tie into its theme because it says, "we may learn about ourselves." That sentence was relevant to the theme because if you are mean to people and it is too late and you'll end up losing that person, you can learn from yourself what and where you went wrong. The author of No Dogs Bark is from Latin America.
