After close to 800 years of peace in China, the Zhou Dynasty fell. Leaders fought for
control, and China was led into a period called the Warring States Perfod. During this time,
7 main states of China fought for control. This was a chaotic and violent time. During the
period of the Warring States, Chinese "thinkers", or philosophers, began to question how
peace and order could be restored back into society. The three main philosophies of this
time were Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism.
These philosophies differ in their belief of government? Which one do you think
would work best?
