Which of the nation’s first three presidents developed the best approach to dealing with other countries? Would that same approach work today? Recently, you completed an assignment comparing the foreign policies of George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson. Decide which of these presidents’ strategies represents the most wise and sensible approach to dealing with other nations, and explain why you think so. Then, describe a contemporary example of a foreign policy issue (something from the last 10-12 years), and explain how that situation might (or might not) benefit from an early president’s foreign policy approach.

When you have completed your own post, respond to the posts of at least two other students. Indicate whether or not you agree with your classmate’s reasons for favoring the foreign policy approach that he or she did. Also, describe the contemporary foreign policy issue that you identified in your own post, and explain why your classmate’s preferred approach would or would not work with that situation.
