In the previous lesson, Beyond Time and Space, you completed a journal entry that asked you to reflect on the events and details in Chapters 2 and 3 of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. For each chapter, you should have identified several "golden keys"--important details that move the plot forward, add to the mood created by the story’s setting, or develop the novel’s conflict.

Choose one of the golden keys you identified, and share your thoughts about it with your classmates. Create a discussion post that includes these three things:

a brief description of the golden key

a direct quote from the novel where the detail is described

your explanation of why you think this detail is a golden key
First person to get it gets brainlist
