Kanye West and Justin Beiber have decided to go into business raising Arabian
horses and Thoroughbred horses. They want to maximize their feasible profit so they
have selected YOU to figure out how many horses of each they should raise.
.
Let x the number of Arabian horses raised each year and a
y the number of Thoroughbred horses raised each year. X
1. Write inequalities expressing each of the following requirements(constraints):
a. Kanye's supplier can get him at most 20 Arabian horses to raise each year.
b. Justin's supplier can get him at most 15 Thoroughbred horses to raise each year.
c. Kanye & Justin raise at least (12)horses, total, each year to make the
business worthwhile.
d. An Arabian horse eats 3 tons of food per year and a Thoroughbred horse eats 2
tons per year, Kanye & Justin can handle no more than 45/ tons of food per year.
e. An Arabian requires 1000 hours of training per year, and a Thoroughbred
horse only 250 hours per. Kanye & Justin have enough personnel to do at
most 10,000 hours of training per year.
→Any other constraints needed.
2. Draw a graph of the feasible region. Do this on graph paper!!! include the
vertices/coordinates of the feasible region. Show work for coordinates that
may not be whole numbers.
3. One of the inequalities has no effect on the feasible region. Which one?
Tell what this means in the real world.
4. What is the minimum feasible region for Thoroughbred horses? How do you know
5. What is the maximum feasible region for Arabian horses? How do you know?
5. Is it feasible to raise NO Arabian horses? Explain.
Kanye & Justin can make a profit of $100,000 for each Arabian horse and
$40,000 for each Thoroughbred horse. What is the maximum feasible profit the
could make per year and how should they operate in order to attain that
Profit?
