Connecting ideas across texts means looking for ways that selections are similar and
different, as well as analyzing the text evidence more deeply. You may be asked
to compare texts of the same or different genres. The STAAR test will ask you to
identify a significant similarity or difference between these two texts. You may also
be asked to analyze specific text evidence from one or both selections to identify
a similarity or difference. STAAR questions about multiple texts typically ask you
to compare main ideas and meanings, but they may also ask you to compare text
features such as organizational structures or the authors' use of language.
