(Indirect): Speech/Words-The character is revealed through his or her own speech.
(Indirect): Appearance-The writer d+escribes how the character looks and dresses.
Della's hair was as long as a dress. This means that since della hair is so long it could make a dress.
(Indirect): Private Thoughts- The character’s private thoughts and feelings are revealed.
(Indirect): Actions- The writer shows what the character does-how he or she acts.
(Indirect): Other Character’s Reactions-The writer reveals what other characters in the story say or think about the character.
(Direct): The author directly states what kind of person the character is: sneaky, honest, evil, innocent, and so on.
