The reason why Europeans marked the year 476 CE as the last year for the Roman Empire which was known for its famous architecture and achievements got overthrown by a Germanic leader called Odoacer.

Many years before when all this got happened to the Roman Empire there were bulks of different Germanic tribes that came to settle on the lands held by the Roman Empire and took a large part of their territory under their rule.
Some of those Germanic tribes included the Franks, Angles, Saxons, Vandals, and more they grew in power, and when that day came that one of the Germanic leader, Odoacer defeated the last emperor of the Roman Empire Romulus in the year 476 CE.
