Even if we may not notice them constantly throughout the day, they are nevertheless accumulating like water drops in a bucket. And ultimately, there will be something that requires us to confront the terrible things that have occurred. Although we don't want to confront the truth, doing so ultimately benefits us since it makes us stronger and wiser.
While it's never acceptable to simply ignore issues, we also don't frequently confront them head-on.
